Hey folks,
For all of you digital downloaders out there, our new e.p., "Sittin' on a Jury" is now available at many of your favorite digital download sites. You can download the entire album for $3.96!!! Or you can buy each track for 99 cents each. Of course, you won't get the cool red vinyl, or the cover art, liner notes or anything else besides the actual music. But hey, if that's enough, by all means knock yourselves out.

But for the luddites out there, you can still purchase the actual album on our website, www.wilderscountry.com/goods.asp. Remember, we only pressed 2000 copies. When they are gone (which many are gone already), they are gone for good. Thanks for your support!

  3. We're fine. We are leaving Green Bay and heading to Chicago. There's been lots of snow and cold. But the road crews are very professional, and know how to get the job done up here. We will be home Saturday, December 8th for the remainder of 2007. I'll try to write something significant (HA) before the year's end...

all the best from The Wilders...

  4. luddite, isn't that a brand name of a type of luggage? Ann, are you sure you are a luddite? I am a Legume. It's fun.

  5. Greetings gang! Long time no write! Just wanted to drop a few lines. Drove up to Green Bay and took in the second show. I have the memory of a knat, so Im not good at remembering song titles. I saw Phil do a banjo solo for the first time, awesome! Im probably the last fan to buy an album, but finally got one! My turntable is 5 hours from here and I cant figure ouy how to get the download! Got there early, and while waiting for the Wilders I hit 4 dueces on a slot machine! Merry Christmas to me!! The band came and did a quick sound check, stopped and visited for awhile, and Ill be darned, I hit 4 dueces again!! Happy new year to me also!! I have never won a thing on slots until that night. Ive said it before, The Wilders give off good vibes!! If anyone has XM radio, # 12 plays The Wilders pretty often. You can also e mail XM and request their songs. My new car has XM and its pretty cool when driving down the hyw and The Wilders come on! Hope this finds all of you well, Timmer

  6. "Thanks" Timmer...nice to see you back on the blog.

  7. Thanks Timmer. The Wilders will be around here next week. I wonder if Vieta is still coming?

  8. Hey Betty, it has been icy here and there, did the Wild Ones make it back OK? How are Peggy and V?

  9. LVJ,
BroPhil called this morning to say they made it in at midnight last night.

  10. I'm fine. It's cold, rainy, and dreary here today, but we're getting some inside stuff done, which is good. So far, the roads aren't too bad, but that's supposed to change. Think it's going to be this way for a few days. How are things further north and east, Vieta?

SO glad our Wilders made it safely home!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Well "little luddite" :-} I don't know about the roads right now but my outside trash containers lid was covered with ice, I had to beat the heck out of it to get it opened. It is drizzling now and the temp is 27. Still have power and fingers crossed!!!

Last year in Jan. we were without power for 10 days, spent 8 of those in a small motel room, which we were very lucky to get. Let me tell you 4 people and a dog in one room that long is nothing that brings back fond memories. Gary moved back home with the cat, they ran the generator, he said it was a relief to be able to walk with out falling over someone or have them yelling at him. We all were a little crabby.

Hope everyone is safe, dry and warm.....Wilders happy to know you all are home too. Sending happy Christmas wishes to each and every one of you.

  12. Power still on in Phillipsburg, MO. 12/10/07.
Probably 1/2 inch of ice on trees.

    V

    ReplyDelete
  13. Power's been off and on here, and there are lots of limbs down--nothing like last January, though. Just talked to Rick's folks in Tulsa, and they're without power, as are over 250,000 other folks there. They said they're warm enough and have plenty to eat--and they're going nowhere.

Joplin got hit by the storm worse than we did, because our temps were a bit warmer and our precipitation changed from sleet to rain during the day today.

How's everyone else doing? Still have power, Vieta? How about you folks up in K.C.?

    ReplyDelete
  14. So far so good at 11:30 this Tuesday a.m. Our lights flickered once this morning but came right back on. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Betty is KC still icing? I think we have passed the big threat here, it thawed the ice off of the trees and power lines last night, it warmed up and we had sun this am. Peggy have you heard from Rick's folks? Hope they are thawed out and have power back.

Ok check in if you have power! Peck peck to every one. later/

  16. Rick's folks still don't have power. Most folks around here either never lost theirs or it's back on. Went to Neosho for a doctor's appt this morning, and the temperature dropped twenty degrees while I was there--from 60 to 40! Weird weather! As long as it stays around the freezing mark, not below, we should be fine. Getting lots of chilly rain today, though. Better go fix another cup of tea... Wish we could all "hole up" together and listen to The Wilders! That always warms things up!

  17. The Wilder's have their picture in the K.C.Star this morning regarding the show this week in Lawrence, KS.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am going to see the Wilders three, yes I said three nights in a row, starting tomorrow night! I wish you could all be there. I will report asap after each show.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Bully for you, LVJ! Please give hugs all around for me!

  20. Well, it was another great Xmas Show. The Wilders tore down the house. Bubba was there telling his version of Christmas. Sam and Greg sang a pretty nifty song. Some day they will be as famous as Sam and Dave. Yea, the Wilders played the classics, but this new tune "Honky Tonk Christmas Tonight" was really cool, really cooked. Berle Ives must have wrote that one. They played "Breaking up Christmas" and "Give the Fiddler a Dram" and another Christmans fiddle tune. Great show, brought a tear of joy to my eye, can't wait until tomorrow night.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh LV, you're a so lucky fellow, 3 shows.(Hey Timmer was lucky too)

I was there in spirit. I went for coffee with another Wilders fan (Pat) we sat a bemoaned the fact that we were not there in person.

It is supposed to get very cold and snow tonight, so with these weather events I'm afraid to head up your way. Whats happening in Germany girls?

Thanks for keeping us in the loop LV, I'm waiting for your words tonight. Hey tell the Wilder we send love and peck pecks, OK?

    be safe everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  22. If the weather holds tonight, Norm and I hope to go to Lawrence.
We chose this show this year since we have never seen them at Liberty Hall.
In the FYI section of the Star today, there is a list of the 10 Top Events to see today.
The Wilder's are on that list....
    NOW HOW COOL IS THAT!!!
Maybe I can finally meet LVJ this evening.

    ReplyDelete
  23. We're supposed to get the same weather you're getting, Vieta, so we're staying put. Hope you folks and The Wilders don't have any trouble getting around. We'll be with you in spirit!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh Betty you have got to meet LV! I can't remember if the Mrs LV is coming but you will love them both!, I want to meet so many of you groopers... maybe someday.

Peggy I'm looking forward to snow, ice is pure beauty but boys it can sure bring trouble.

drive carefully and wear your seatbelts, OK?

  25. AAAAgggggggggggg................

    Sleet and freezing rain here!

    ReplyDelete
  26. No snow here yet. Another great show. Drakkar Sauna was a wonderful addition to the show. The bands played 2 or 3 songs at a time and helped each other out. Betty and Norm were there. Marvelous people, I can see why Phil is so ornery. Dale Frazier started off the show with a great story and the Wilders have successfully broke up Christmas. Bubba did his 12 days of Christmas. People were dancing all night. I really like that new Berle Ives tune "Honky Tonk Christmas Tonight" I might have to figure it out. An absolutely incredible show. I successfully recorded this show and have been listening to it tonight, and it did not turn out too good. I will send it to Phil to see if he can spruce it up a little. My nephew busted out the camcorder and got Ike's persmission to put it on Utube or something, I will let you know. One more night!

Well I waited up for ya. Now that you are home and no bad weather there I'll go to bed.

No snow here yet but ground is white with sleet.

    Goodnite sleep well.

  28. Couple more thoughts about last night. The Wilders ended the show with everybody on stage with them and they got down in front of the stage and played right down there on the dance floor with all the dancers. Totally awesome. I also took the camera last night for the first time to a Wilders show. I took a couple of pictures. Jake took a whole bunch. He got a picture of Bubba that realy captures the moment. You all are going to have to see Mark Smeltzer in his red union suit, big logger boots, black belt and his signature hat. He looks like a deranged Santa. We are going to figure out what to do with em. I guess I can email em. We are supposed to spend the day cutting up downed tree branches, but I would rather play with the recording, the video and the pictures. We'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ditto on everything LVJ said about the show. However, he left out that the Wilder's played a song that LVJ wrote. It is VERY good.
Also they played the pretty song "Christmas Snow" that is one of my favorites.

Tick did a spendid job as MC and dancing. I marvel at him that he can dance forever and never seems to get out of breath.

Finally got to meet LVJ. His family was there and nice to meet them. Jake was sitting by us at times in the balcony taping the show. They are all very nice folks.

We went back stage afterwards and found out Kim acted as stage manager, and she did an excellent job.

I didn't get this written until later in the day today 'cause we slept in this a.m. You know us "Old Folks" aren't used to being up past 10:00 p.m.
It was worth it, because it was a totally awesome show!!!!

  32. V, I got home about 9:45 from another incredible show. I don't know how they do it. Talent and practice I guess. The whole line up is too much fun. Cleotis, Sam and Greg, Kim, the stretch instructor, and of course the Wilders were, on the 3rd night, just a smooth as possum guts on of them fancy big city glass doorknobs. I recorded the show and took some pictures. We have a couple of small children sleeping over and I was under orders not to make any noise, so I went straight to hybernation, so that is why I waited until this morning to post. I hear one wanting to know if we still have frosted flakes. Gotta go, before they're all gone.

  33. Sure is beginning to sound a lot like Christmas up there in the KC area--complete with the patter of little feet! Thanks, LVJ! I've never seen a Wilder's Christmas show, but will try for next year. Wish someone would compile a CD--or even a DVD--of their Christmas music and shenanigans!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ann, I have given the Holiday Hoedown recordings to Phil, and we will see what he does pretty soon. I tried to record at Reading Reptile last night, and I must have hit a wrong button, and I got nothing. I have pictures that I can email. I can probably email the Holiday Hoedown recordings, it is big, but possible I guess. Let me know.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I know that everybody is busy, holidays and all. But I have to say a few things. The last Christmas show at the bookstore on Saturday night was just marvelous. For some unknown reason, the kids weren't screaming, the adults weren't talking, and all could be heard. Everything clicked. Everbody was dead on. All the way down to Cousin Cleotis. All three nights were directed by a fantastic stage manager named Kim. She had a really tough thankless job and she did it beyond belief. Just amazing pulling that off for three night. Thank you Kim. I am sadden to say that I did not get a good picture of TickMiester. I should have taken a picture of Betty and Norm. But the thing that tops it off is I received the best Christmas gift an old oddball like me could ever ask for. The Wilders playing my Favorite Berle Ives song. That would be "Honky Tonk Christmas Tonight". I can't thank you enough or express my gratitude enough.I'm sorry, I'm getting a little emotional here, the keyboard is getting wet. Merry Christmas EVERYBODY!

  43. Same to you, bob, dd, and all! We had a quiet Christmas, but will make up for it by going to visit friends and family and to a couple of music parties between now and New Year's.

Hope you Wilders are getting some needed down time, and that you all had a Merry Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  44. We had a rather boisterious Christmas Eve with Connie's side and Christmas morning with my side. It is peaceful today. Nothing to put together. I hope that the Wilders are having some peaceful relaxation and rest. See ya.

  45. Hey you groopers...GOOD REPORTING. You know when you can't be there the next best thing is getting to share it second hand like! Thats what I think anyways.

I myself am ready for that new CD to come out, I forget, when will that be??

Don't you love that word "luddite"?

Time for a quote. get ready now...here it is.

  52. Hi everybody,
I wish you all a happy new year! It's so nice to read something in german. How did you spend the time at new year's eve?
    Lots of greetings from Germany,
    C.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hey you lovely people!
I haven´t forgotten you and I do not forgot you all – that sure. I prefer to be quite, because I lose all my power and have pain. Since the middle of December I´m in a hospital – it was my last rescue. In the evening and on the weekends they allowed me to go home, so I can read sometimes your comments – but not enough energy to write to you – and I sleep a lot! Please excuse with me.
Peck, peck I know you miss me and it´s a pain for me, that I couldn´t write all the things, which I would like to tell you. You will know it, but I don´t know, when I can do it - please have patience with me.
Now you wrote in German about health – wow, wow and oh, oh, oh for me. --- so no way - I must write to you.
The hospital helps me, but it needs a lot of time and patience. To know, that you are so lovely and to know the wilders and their music helps too. When the hospital time will be over, my way will be long and perhaps not easy, but it´s possible that everything will be good. And a good news: the doc said, that it´s possible to started this year again with my favorite dance “line-dance”. I´m happy about this news – to much time, when I did it at last with a lot of other peoples.
With love and peck, peck for you all and of course all the best wishes for you all and our Wilders.
    Jutta

  54. Hey Jutta,
I wish you a lot of strength to recover as fast as possible! Hope you get well soon!

  55. It's good to hear from you, Christina and Jutta. I'm SO sorry to hear about your illness, Jutta, and will be hoping that you're up line-dancing again very soon!

We're having a good year so far, but very strange weather. It was 4degrees F two days ago (very, very cold!), and is 69 degrees and sunny today!

  57. Glad to hear that the locals are OK, but one of our overseas buddies is not doing too well. Please get well and stay well. A new CD in March. Can't wait.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hey dear Christina, thank you so much for your wishes. It´s certain helps me and give me a good feeling.
Thank you too dear Peggy. I want to give you solace about me. Maybe I´m ill for learning to be more care with me and protect me … and through this I will learn more patience … When it will going on and it´s possible to dance, than I will dance for you all and send it in my minds to you.
Also dear Betty – thank you for your wishes and that we are always welcome = it´s balm for the soul.
And dear LVJ – thank you too. And a good comment “.. get well and stay well” – yes, that´s the way. And the candy-news a new CD in March. So Wilders-Music so good for the health and living.
You all have help me with your lovely comments to get easier back to the sunny side of life. Thank you all so much therefore.
With love and peck, peck … Jutta

  60. Betty, et al, I think that is a wonderful idea, Happy Birthday to all the Widers. Also born in January, John James Will, born on January 11, 20008. It is marvelous being a grandfather for the first time!

I'm also looking forward to the new Wilders CD. When does it come out? Have a nice sunday everybody!

  64. LVJ, congrats on the new namesake! Our family's full of January birthdays--my brother's, mine, and both our daughters. Shannon and Suzanna. Happy birthdays to us all!

Grandchildren are wonderful! We'll have another one in late February or early March!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Congrats on your grandchild, LVJ! We are still waiting for our 1st to arrive. I think it will be a while yet but that's OK. I'm catching up on the reading again today. Jutta, wishing you a speedy recovery and strong legs to dance to your heart's content.
Happy January birthdays! I'll be heading to Minneapolis to spend a week with my oldest children and my 3 sisters the first week of February for my birthday. Family is so important!
    I love this phrase:

    Yesterday is history,
    Tomorrow is a mystery,
    Today is a gift,
That's why we call it the present.

Best wishes in 2008 Wilders and Groupers!
    ddmac

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yes, all the best wishes for your grandchild LVJ! For this birthday and also all the other birthdays here a little cutout from a german birthdaysong, which I like it so much ".... Wie schön, dass Du geboren bist, wir hätten Dich sonst sehr vermisst!!! ...."
Today it was the last day in the hospital for me. So a gladness for me to read just today your nice phrase Ddmac. Thank you Ddmac for your wishes. Now my long way to recover can going on and by this try to see it as a gift.
PS: In the hospital 2 times the week we have had musictherapy against the pains. Because today it was my last day I had had a wish free. So I pleased the doc and the other patients in this lesson to take the drums (Djembe) and listen to the song which I passed from a cd – the song was singing from Betse (“Keep Inchin´ Along”) – yes, we played to this song with the djembes – it sounded so nice and was a big fun for us.

  67. How wonderful to envision The Wilders bringing happiness and wellness to our Jutta and others! I know listening to them always makes me feel better!

  68. Hey Mrs. or Mr. Annonnymous!
It touch my deep (in a good way), that you wrote "How wonderful ...".
Yes, the Wilders and their music, and also all the lovely people on their webside – it´s really some special.
Oh Christina, we can be so happy that we can share it together. – I know that you know it, but I must said it, because it´s so nice.

    ReplyDelete
  69. How ya all doing? Me too thanks. Betse and Phil have told me that the new CD will not quite be ready for the show at Knuckleheads on March 8. It will have 20 songs or so on it and I get the feeling that it will be quite entertaining. April probably. Todays question: Is it possible to spoil grandchildren?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Definitely not at a few days of age! In fact, I think not before a year or two--then you have to watch it a little. You can't spoil them with love at any age, though. Grandchildren are wonderful! Welcome to grandparenthood, LVJ!

The new Wilders CD will be great--can't wait!

SO glad you're out of the hospital, Jutta!

    --Peggy

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yes, Peggy, thanks; the first step is made. And when I´m more fit anytime, I will write longer comments.
LVJ, I think that as soon as human is in the belly from the mum, it can feel and so it could be influence on the personality. But don´t think to much. But by the first way I thought that´s a joke for us from LVJ, because by such a grandpa the baby will be in the best hands.
I miss Vieta. I hope she is doing well.
About the CD – o.k. it takes longer, but better longer and not so many stress for our Wilders. I´m looking forward.

  73. Hey everybody, how are you? I thought that I would pass some time telling you the story I told Little John the other day. A week old is about the right age to know where HoHo's come from. HoHo's sprout up from the ground every year much like asparagus. There is some special ground in northern New Jersey where HoHo beds are prepared. They start sprouting in April and by mid-August, they are about 6 feet tall and 2 feet in diameter. Then the farmers go out and cut the HoHo's and load them on flat bed trucks and they are sent to the processing plant in Hoboken New Jersey. There the HoHo's are processed and packaged and sent to stores all over the U.S. But remember Little John, you should strive to be an AstroPhysicist, not a HoHo farmer. This story was based upon a Zippy comic strip. Jake loved it, Connie thinks I'm weirder than ever. See ya!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Poor kid! He doesn't have a prayer of being normal! (Of course, he'll fit right in with you and the other Wilders "groopers," right, LVJ?)

My guess is that John will always want his daffy grandpa to tell him stories, and when anyone else tries, he'll be bored.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Well thank goodness for the weirds! :-) Although seems like the whole darn bunch of us would fit that description, (at least I hope so) What do you think?

Lucky little J to have LV for a grandpa, There will be no need for fairy tale books, they bring to mind Calvin and Hobbs.

Now for the weather report.........Jan. 8 0r thereabout we had 7 or 8 tornadoes. Ike and I were on the porch and we heard one, it was about 1/4 of a mile from us. Our house is built in a hill with just the roof above ground, we didn't have to run to the basement thats why we were outside. Insurance adjuster came today, we have to have a new roof. It lifted the shingles and blew grass and leaves under them. We were luckier than most, lot of damage in our area.

Jutta and Christina, you girls sure give our blog a nice feeling. Jutta are you getting back to healthy? I really hope so and Christina I am glad you put your picture on the Wilders "My Space" page. Pretty!

Now I leave you all with a peck peck, and a quote.

"My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go
to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can."
    Cary Grant

    besafe behappy everyone.

  76. Hey LVJ, I like it how much love you give to your grandchild! But could you explain me what a hoho is, please?? I didn't find it in the dictionary...
Vieta, it's also stormy over here, but not the same as far! I guess we Germans don't know tornadoes like that. I'm glad you like my comment at myspace, thanks!
Jutta, I hope you're on a fast way to recovery!
    Have a nice sunday everybody,

  77. A HoHo is one of the 4 basic food groups: HoHo's, Twinkies, DingDong's and Cupcakes. All by Hostess. Good stuff, good for the waist.

  78. I wish, I would be more quick on the tricker like LVJ - it´s so funny.

Christina and Vieta, thanks for your hoping. I haven´t back my healthy completely, it will be need ?? months, BUT I´m one the way.
I hope everyone, who lives in such a stormy area will have luck that all things will be good.

Christina, I also didn´t know what HoHo is. About Twinkies I read that were a type of cream-filled yellow cake, individually packed, made by the same manufacturer of Dingdongs. Totally artificial tasting, full of fat and sugar.

    Have a good one!
