BREAK!

A full quarter of 2007 has already slipped by. "What the heck," you might ask, "have you Wilders been DOING?" Well, I aim to answer that question right now...

We busted right out of the gate on January 10th for a 3-week run from Nashville, through the Carolinas, up to Washington D.C. & New York City, and into Pennsylvania accompanied by our Lafayette, Louisiana pals, The Red Stick Ramblers. Then we hauled our butts from Pittsburgh all the way to Madison & Milwaukee to play two shows with our old buds, The Foghorn Stringband. We headed home for just a few days before we did another quick run down to Springfield, MO to play a couple of shows with our new friends, The Arkamo Rangers. Finally, we rounded out the first weekend of February by returning to the Free State Music Festival in Lawrence, KS.

When the dust settled, there were four very-exhausted Wilders standing there scratching their heads- and we had only finished the first MONTH. February passed quickly and we all took a little time to rejuvenate, before heading back up to Wisconsin (dodging snowstorm after snowstorm) to host a three-day stand at the Oneida Nation Casino in Green Bay. After that, we came home and took a long-overdue break.

So, until recently, I haven't seen my band mates much. We all sort of splintered into our own pursuits and distractions. Everybody did their own thing and took care of long-overdue personal business. I, for one, luckily had the opportunity to play rock and roll guitar with my old band, The Pedaljets for the first time in over 10 years. It was a blast. The Wilders took almost 2 months off for the first time in over 3 years. Even before we went full time, we almost always had a festival or show at least once a month. This was a full on, no holds barred, vacation and I think everybody really used it to it's full advantage. We broke our gigfast by becoming the backing band for one of our favorite singers, Martha Scanlan, for four great dates in Colorado. I'll detail that experience in the next blog entry. Take care everybody.

  1. The Wilder's deserved a rest and glad you got one. Anxious to hear the Colorado report.

  2. Great to hear from you again BroPhil. We were needing that update.

  3. It sure is easy to sign on as Anonymous. However, we may want to identify ourselves. You first.

  4. Since I'll have to re-register and assume a new "user name" identity, I'm going to give it some serious thought. Until then, guess I'll remain anonymous. It's sort of fun, anyway...

  5. Not sure why y'all are having so much trouble with the blog identity. I followed the directions and logged in with my old name just fine...

  6. I re-registerd and had no trouble. I even used my "old" username and password. I did get an e-mail later to verify which I did..then you don't have to re-register every time.

It WOULD be nice to see some names on the posts again!! I will be the first to identify myself.

  7. P.S. I am by no means good with computers. If I can figure out how to re-register...anyone can!!!!

  8. this is the third time I have registered. Sure gets old. Maybe I too shall remain annynonamoose

  9. Here's my new identity. Guess who???

  10. Well, I ain't changing to Anonymeister.

  11. I went into this here thing and registered three different times last night and even tried anonymous a few times and couldn't get it to post. Oh well. Someone should contact the Homeland Blogcurity Agency and report this nonsense. What we have here is a anonymous anamoly

  12. Greetings gang!! Test, test, test.

  13. Just trying to post with my new identity...

Nope, not even ann can send.

  14. This is a paradoxal anamoly. I guess that the blog gods want to make it difficult to post. I do
know that the Wilders will knock em dead in Europe. Have a pleasant and safe journey. If anybody figures out how to get to post as easy as it used to be, please post it. Another paradoxal anamoly.

  15. Ok, I'll try. The site that hosts the Wilders blog has beren taken over by Google. What you got to do is open a Google account by clickingthe sign up here link below the comment window. Your Google username will be your email address, you will have to make up a Google password, then your posts will continue to appear under your original identity name. I don't like this, but I did it. I always use AlltheWeb for searches, not Google, as Google is way too big and the owners are communists. (Hope that isn't too political, besides it's just a rumor, not an opinion, and thus doesn't count.) Hope that helps.

  16. O.K., here goes...

(I didn't read the "terms of service," before I clicked the box; am I now a Communist???)

  17. Me again.

Just tried to send a "Bon Voyage" message to The Wilders, but got frustrated and just started a new account--again. Don't know which of my many identities I will be this time...

Anyway, Break a Leg, Wilders!!! Will you be able to send messages from Germany?

  18. What Tickmeister said is what I did to get new identiy on blog.
I am lonesome for some "names" on the posts.
Anonymous is too impersonal...come on lets see some "names."

We also are wishing the "Wilder's" much luck in Europe and a safe, uneventful flight.

  19. Betty, it's me, Peggy. I can't even post as "ann onnymous" anymore, and it isn't letting me start another account. Very frustrating.

I'll send this as "anonymous," and see if that works. If anything appears under "ann onnymous," that's me, too.

I'm starting to feel like Sybil, with all these new identities...

  20. Well, thought about registering, then thought again. Don't believe in making life any more goofy than it is...........so, guess who???

    Here is my quote.

  21. Is that you, Vieta?? (This is sort of fun--kinda like a masquerade party!)

  22. I have registered six times and it always says my password ain't no good. Mr. Tick, I have faithfully tried and the system says no. I wil try to identify myself, LVJ will also be Perry Doxal or annynominus. I will register one more time or by anonymous

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well of course it worked this time, because I was reminded by the Tick Herder that it was my email address not my old identity. I feel much better now, I did kinda like Perry Doxal and/or annynominus however. It does pay to read the fine print. I sure like getting on here and saying stupid stuff, I hope you all don't mind, cause I wouldn't quit no how.

  24. I hate to say "die," but I've sure felt like it a few times with this new system!

Now, when I put in my e-mail address as my username, and type in my regular password, it says, "you must verify your email address before posting." I click "sign in and verify," and it says my account hasn't been activated and that I will be sent an e-mail which will do this. I've waited and waited, and no e-mail.

So, I remain "anonymous." (This is Peggy, by the way...)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Was that you Vieta??

Ann Onnyous you do have to verify before it will let you post.

Perry Doxal saying stupid stuff?? Surely not??

    ReplyDelete
  26. Just tried again, Betty, and it won't let me "verify." They're supposed to be sending an e-mail to my address and I'm to follow instructions, but it doesn't come. And I can't send anything I write as "anonymous" after going to the other screens! So, here.

  27. Really strange 'cause I got an e-mail within minutes with a place to click to verify??

    ReplyDelete
  28. Nope. Doesn't look like I'm ever going to get to register and "verify." I feel so used...

  29. Let's try again. My first post didn't go through. (I tried my old user name and password.)
My mom tells me I've always been defiant even when the odds are against me. I proved her right again. Oh well, what's the fun in life if you go by the book.
    Happy May Day!
As you can tell, I haven't gotten my e-mail confirmation yet.

  30. Which "anonymous" are you?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hey, you know what? I'll bet BroPhil set up this impossible new system just to keep us occupied while the Wilders pack for Europe!--like a sort of Internet Rubik's cube...
