Hey Y'all,
Wanted to let you know that our new album,"Someone's Got to Pay" is going to be featured on National Public Radio's "Weekend Edition" this Saturday, June 28th.

Ike and I were interviewed last week (via ISDN line) by "Weekend Edition" host, Scott Simon at the Tucson, AZ NPR affiliate station.

You can hear the results for yourselves this Saturday, June 28th. "Weekend Edition" airs (in Kansas City) from 7am-9am. Check npr.org for information on your local station.

  1. What a funny picture from you three!

By Ike it looks like, due to his shroud from his coat, as he has very long hair. --- Just I would said:
Hey, from which lion you have borrow these hair?

I´m happy to hear, that Phil and Ike are in the radio.
I hope, that many many people listen to them, that more and more will know, who great the music and of course the wilders are!

    Hugs to you!

  2. We have our radio all tuned and ready to listen to Ike and Phil in the a.m.

We heard Phil on KCUR radio this morning sounding good!!

Bummer on the show being canceled this evening in Olathe. I am VERY disappointed, but guess better safe than sorry due to the bad weather forecast for tonight.

  3. I was there at Olathe, about 6:15. The sound system was non existant, and the stage was so low I had a hard time seeing the band,
but I have no problems with imagination, hallucinations or related. It was a great show. Only about 30 or 40 people were there sitting in their chairs and after a few minutes, I realized that they were crazier than me.

  4. Yep, it's 9pm, about the time the show would have finished- and no rain of any kind. But it does look menacing outside. The trouble is, they cancelled it at 8am. They were concerned for people's safety. Sorry to anybody who made the trek to Olathe to find an empty lot. We would have liked to have played. But, it wasn't in our control. I'm going to go back outside and wait for the show-cancelling deluge to hit. At this point, I'm expecting it about midnight. Oy Vey!

  5. Hope to see you tonight in Skiatook, Wilders! Vieta and I should be there mid-afternoon, but not soon enough for the 3:00 show. Sky is a bit cloudy--hope they weren't 24 hours late on the storm forecast...

I'll be listening in to NPR this morning on the way to work!!!

  7. The interview on NPR this morning was very impressive...
    GOOD JOB BroIke and BroPhil.

I suppose if they had gone on with the show last evening, there would have been buckets of rain, lightning, and wind. Better to be safe than sorry...I guess!!

Vieta and Peggy let us hear about the Oklahoma show this evening.

  8. Sad faces here... Vieta called around noon and said there was hail in P-burg. There was also a major thunderstorm going on here in Anderson. We decided it wouldn't be wise to hit the road in such conditions, so guess we won't be seeing our Wilders tonight. I'm SO disappointed--not only about not getting to see The Wilders, but also about not getting to spend some time with Vieta!

It's clearing off here now, so maybe their festival performances can go off as planned--I hope so.

Anyway, I did get on npr.org and listen to the whole interview this afternoon, and it was great! Phil and Ike are both so articulate--I'm proud that The Wilders is (are?) my favorite band! I loved Ike's telling about rebelling against his hillbilly upbringing by studying opera! No motorcycle gang for him, nosiree...

  9. Did anyone make it to Skiatook last night?

  10. Ann O, wish we had got there!

I-44 was closed, under water up by Straford. about 10 miles east of Springfield so I don't know if I could have got thru. They opened it around 4pm.We got 2 inches of rain plus hail Sat. morning.

I think I'm starting to grow fins?

Wilders you sure sounded good in your interviews !

  11. We're getting a little "mossy" here, too! Will it EVER stop raining?!?!? I did manage to get the yard mowed today--finally.

Do you know if The Wilders will be at the Rock House again this year? Maybe that's one we can make!

  12. Sure hoping they do the Rock House, Lets try to make it if they do, we had good luck last time.

I wish we all were not so spread out, we need to in a clump, don't ya think?

Be safe and keep smiling and keep your knickers dry now.

  17. Tried several different ways to post a direct link to the interview on NPR's website, but nothing seems to work. You are on your own folks...

  18. I'm feeling rather chiggery and slightly aplumb. The ticks were thick and the air full of smoke. The music was played, the beer drank, the food devoured. Another year, another joke.

  19. The Wilders are taking off on another tour. Good luck! Hey V, what's for dinner?

  20. Hey! Just listend to the NPR story at the NPR site! Loved it!

Now I just need to buy the newer CDs... I was wondering what non-essential items I could spend my last bit of non-essential funds on!

Hope all is well in the Wilders On Tour world!

Good Tour wishes Wilders. Every body needs some cheer. Be careful and stay safe everyone.

  22. Hey, Eyeryt! Nice to hear from you! I think you'd get an argument from everyone here about the "non-essential" moniker for the new Wilders CD's--they're definitely essential in this house!

We'll look forward to hearing more from The Wilders soon, regarding their tour--and more input on "Someone's Got to Pay," after the great NPR story aired!

  23. There seems to be a lack of conformity and regularity to the blog. If V and Peggy would bake a big ol mess of pies and send them out, then everybody could get on the same sugar rush and write better. It may take something else for regularity though.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well I figure one thing LV doesn't need is a sugar high, someone would have to catch him and tie him down or put a rock on him.
    But then...............

A pieathon does sound like fun, The Wilders could play some wild songs for us and we could pay them with pie.

Wilders may you have a wonderful thing happen on the tour !
Then there's the one about the fellow who saw a snail mugged by a turtle. When asked what happened, he said "I don't know...it all happened so fast..."

  25. Which reminds me of the time that Minnie Mouse was foraging in a wheatfield and was caught up in a combine. She survived and Mickey found her wandering dazed, bruised, and with clothing torn. He rushed to her and asked "Minnie, what happened?"

"I don't know," she replied. "I think I've been reaped."

  26. ...or there was the time the little old man decided spice up his life by streaking through the dining room of the nursing home. One little old lady asked the other, "What was THAT?!?" To which the other replied, "I don't know, but it needed ironing!"
