  1. Hey, Hey, LVJ, how many ( )'s did you ( ) today. Fill in the blanks yourself and lets see how many are old enough to remember the original chant. Don't know if you ever come to the Rural Grit Happy Hour or not, but I will be playing there May 22. Don't know when I will get to another Wilder's gig. I'd stow away in the van spare tire carrier and go to all of them, but life is more complicated than that.

  2. RG Happy hour is always 6-9 or so at the Brick Restaurant, 1727 McGee in downtown KC right across the street from the KC Star building.

  3. It was an anti-war chant from the late 60's when Lyndon Baines Johnson was president. "Hey, hey, LBJ, how many boys did you kill today." I though some of you old hippies would remember. Guess I'm now the oldest hippie. Apologies to the Wilders for 6 posts with high drivel content.

  6. Here I am back to the old grind today.
It was much more fun being at Silver Dollar City and the Rock House. We had a great day and 5 even greater shows of the "Wilder's." They are truly getting better and better. We hadn't seen them since Winfield. Ike's singing is top notch as well as Betse, Nate, and Phil doing their thing. Silver Dollar City had them in the Playhouse which is an enclosed theatre type deal. The theatre was full for all three of their shows with a very appreciative audience.
To top off our fun day we were at the Rock House. I recommend it to all. Vieta's description of it is right on target. It is very comfortable, relaxed, and is like being at a family reunion. Vieta and I had fun taking turns holding little sweetie Gretel. When the band played, she got excited jumping up and down and squealing. It was nice to see Carrie and Melissa too. It was a perfect birthday for Norm and Mother's Day for me.

Sigh....back to the old grind now.

  7. P.S. "Thanks" to LVJ for copying and Vieta making us copies of Creole Gallery, Douglas Fir, Palms, and B.C. we had "Wilder's" music to accompany us home yesterday...good oldies plus some of their new songs.

  8. Well, yeah, about that dancin'. After a lifetime of non-dancing, I decided to try to learn a bit of flatfoot clogging, it's sort of a tradition that goes along with old time music. I tried out a few steps at the Davey's show, but I got a long way to go. Definitely no extraordinary stuff here. Having failed at singin', pickin', and ventriliqism (OK, you spell it!), I'm still looking for my path into show business.

  9. March-April No Depression, with Kris Kristofferson on the cover. It's a one page write up. Let me know if you can't find it, I will copy and mail it to you.

  10. Yeah, I understand, Vieta especially, she's weird. She once showed my a very small skull, looked like it was from a monkey or squirrel or something. She claimed it was Ike's skull as a baby. I knew it was fake, cause Ike ain't dead yet.

  11. I can kinda sorta play the piano. I even have a portable keyboard. On a good day I can flatfoot until I get out of breath. When do we practice...girls??

  12. Amazing what a 1 paragraph post to sell a Merlefest CD can disintegrate to. I'm heading for the tall grass until this all blows over.

  13. Wow, it's always so refreshing to check back on this thing and see what y'all are talking about. I last checked the comments on Monday night. I think there were only 11 or 12 and now there's a whole band that's formed and getting ready to tour! Well gals, The Chief is in Oak Grove, MO at the KOA. It's gassed up and mouse-free. Only problem is the battery is dead, so you will need a to get a charge up before you go. And, if you DO get it started, don't drive it slower than 50 mph after it gets hot or it will quit on you and you have to wait for it to cool back down before it will start back up again. That is, if the battery got charged up enough while you had it running. For that matter, you might want to carry a few spare batteries just to make sure you can get it off the highway if it dies. We always carried 2 or 3 extras. Oh, and if it rains, make sure you pull up on the curb because the roof leaks back in Betse's old bedroom something terrible. Good luck. Make sure you keep us up to date with your travels on your own blog ok?

  14. BroPhil's e-mail kinda took the wind out of my sails.
Oh well, my fingers are rusty and stiff for the piano, and my feet are pretty much shot too.
The "Old Chief" pretty much scars me to DEATH!!! We might have to get other transportation like a horse and buggy. That would be more my speed. Of course we couldn't tour too far from home with that. Ladies what do you think?
I could probably get a flight ready case for the keyboard...but I don't know if I can get flight ready cases for my dancing feet.

  15. Deb, that sounds good to me...hay would cost less than gas too. Betse moonlighting in our "all girls band" would be a dandy idea.

Vieta, "Take us on outa here!!"

  16. Vieta...have fun for me in Springfield. Do some extra hollering, clapping, etc. etc. etc. Let us hear about it when you can.

Good review of SDC and the Rock House, Carrie.

  18. Thanks LVJ and Peggy for telling us about the Springfield show. It sounded like another good one!!!

  19. It wasn't the suit, that's just what Ike smells like on a bad day. I don't smell so good myself right now, 2 1/2 days of laying in the grass will do that to you.
